Name origin
kimberly Arch is a character from Midori in the Magic School videogame. Kimberly is a 2000+ elf girl that never gives up and enjoy helping students at Kaizo Magic School. She is Page Asgardius’ second wife since Naomi died. Kimberly has a very flexible body and loves wearing a maid dress
Yinlin from Wuthering Waves is a tribute to Kimberly Arch’s personality (She is also an elf)
Every flavor uses a female name related to an elf. Midori Asgardius is the main character from a videogame with minimalistic graphics. Layla is a student at Sumeru Academy (Genshin Impact dendro nation). Elda is a character that appears at Edomae Elf. Lily is a nickname that i use for Klee from Genshin Impact. She loves drawing and fireworks (like Midori Asgardius). Emily Asgardius is Page’s twin sister
I created a custom repo that you can add to your existing Arch Linux install (Manjaro users must use unstable branch for most packages). Add the following line to your pacman config file /etc/pacman.conf
[karchrepo]
SigLevel = Optional TrustAll
Server = https://s3.asgardius.company/$repo/$arch
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why you are shipping every flavor with KDE? KDE is a customizable user interface that looks very similar to Microsoft Windows Desktop when using default layout. Is an excellent startup point to try out something new, but keeping a familiar look
- Why you are using names related to elves? Because elves are kind like this distro
- Why Kimberly? Kimberly is a female name for women that never gives up
- Why Arch Linux instead something more stable? Arch Linux is a Rolling Release distro that always ships everything in their latest stable version. Some Debian users says that Arch is an unstable distro, but compared with Microsoft Windows and its daily crashes, Arch will almost never crash (unless you try to keep your desktop pc working for 1 year as part of Uptime Challenge)
- Why you are shipping non-free Nvidia drivers? These drivers works better than nouveau driver in most cases. Like Arch Linux, this is a pragmatical distro, not an ideological one. You can uninstall nvidia drivers if you don’t use their graphic cards
- Why you are shipping non-free codecs, but Bluray Disc playback doesn’t work? At these days almost nobody has a Bluray Disc reader for their computers. Bluray Disc movies require a decoding key set to be played. These cannot be shipped by default due legal issues, but you can configure them following a tutorial that you can find at Arch Linux Wiki. Homemade Bluray video discs doesn’t have encryption, so you can play them without issues
- Which is your release schedule for iso images? We will release a new image set for Kimberly GNU/Linux when Midori in the Magic Schools gets a new release
